What are Mandalorian Clans?

Families are referred to as clans in Mandalorian culture, and each clan is arranged under a particular "house" or political group. Each clan has its own set of customs, norms, and symbols to symbolize them. Mandalorian clans can develop rivalries or alliances with one another. This article will examine every Mandalorian clan that is known to exist in both Legends and Star Wars canon.

1. Clan Vizsla

Between the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorian clan Vizsla was active. Before the collapse of the Old Republic, Tarre Vizsla, the Dark saber's inventor and the first Mandalorian Jedi, was the Mandalorian's Mand'alor.

They claimed that the Saxons had betrayed Lady Bo-Katan Kryze, who was generally regarded as Mandalore's legitimate ruler and sold off their planet to other powers. Lord Tiber Saxon, Gar's brother, took over as Governor after his death on Krownest and led the battle against Clan Wren and the Nite Owls.

When Clan Wren joined forces with the Rebels to retake Mandalore, Tiber, who had given up all ties to his heritage, used "the Duchess" against them; since Oskar's armor was essential to Mandalorian culture, the weapon's targeting and superheating of the beaker alloy in the armor resulted in the wearer's incineration, which was deemed an abomination.

Sabine, who had unwittingly been forced to build the weapon during her Academy days, responded by leading a combined Mandalorian and rebel army to sneak into Saxon's Star Destroyer at Sundari and eradicate "the Duchess" before it could be deployed once more.

Members of the Fett clan were well known for their prowess and brutality in combat by the time of the Sith–Imperial War. Clan Fett was also honored for their joint endeavors to help and improve the lot of the Mandalorian's.

Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Cassus Fett, Vorten Fett, and Khomo Fett are notable Clan Fett members.

6. Clan Mudhorn

Din Djarin, a bounty hunter, and Grogu, his Force-sensitive apprentice, formed Clan Mudhorn, a Mandalorian clan during the New Republic Era. In remembrance of the mudhorn they killed on Arvala-7, the Armorer of the Tribe presented the clan with their signet, the skull of a mudhorn.

Even after their time apart, Din always viewed Grogu as a Mandalorian foundling. Grogu ultimately decided to drop out of Jedi training to be with Din again. Din has been teaching Grogu the Mandalorian ways as they have continued their adventures together.

7. Clan Rook

Known for their loyalty to House Kast, Clan Rook was a Mandalorian clan that operated during the Galactic Empire's rule. The clan mostly functioned as a vassal, assisting House Kast in its endeavors and undertaking different tasks to maintain its reputation. In contrast to other clans that were heavily involved in major conflicts and politics, Clan Rook was an expert at bounty hunting, accepting risky jobs in exchange for enormous sums of money.

A black and orange bird served as the signet for Clan Rook members, who were known for their agility and shrewdness in combat. The clan wore silver, yellow, and purple armor. Clan Rook maintained a reputation for combat skill and tactical prowess in their bounty hunting operations, despite their contentious position, with some doubting their genuine Mandalorian ancestry because of their illegal activities under Tayari Rook's leadership.

Clan Rook participated in important Mandalorian events despite its primary focus on bounty hunting. During the Mandalorian Civil War in 1 BBY, a clan member swore loyalty to Bo-Katan Kryze and joined other clans in opposing the Galactic Empire's rule.

8. Clan Ordo

Clan Ordo was a well-known Mandalorian clan that, under the leadership of Mandalore, the Mandalorian's ultimate monarch, dominated the planet Ordo in the Mandalore sector.

Canderous Ordo, who participated in the Jedi Civil War, Mandalorian Wars, Great Sith War, and Dark Wars, was the most well-known member of Clan Ordo.

During the Jedi Civil War, Canderous Ordo fought alongside Revan. Later, at Revan's request and for the benefit of his people, he brought the Mandalorian's back together under his leadership as Mandalore. Canderous started to rebuild and rejoin Clan Ordo between 3954 and 3951 BBY when he returned to the old Mandalorian headquarters on the Onderonian moon Dxun.

Clan Ordo was one of the clans who supported Jicoln Cadera when he revolted against Mandalore the Vindicated's Sith-friendly rule following the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant. Mandalore later welcomed back Clan Ordo despite the fact that Cadera and his clan's movement were ultimately destroyed. 9. Clan Skirata

Munin Skirata and his adopted son Kal Skirata were members of the Mandalorian clan known as Clan Skirata. In a Mandalorian tradition that brought him immense disgrace, Kal's sons subsequently shunned him after his wife and biological children abandoned him. Kal still regarded them as his sons in spite of this.

Following Mandalorian custom, Kal Skirata took Omega Squad, the Nulls, and former Jedi Bardan Jusik as sons in 19 BBY, shortly before the Clone Wars ended.

Russian Skirata, Kal's long-estranged biological daughter, was taken from a Republic prison center and reunited with Clan Skirata during the final Clone Wars skirmishes. As permitted by Mandalorian culture, Kal also posthumously adopted Darman's Jedi wife, Etain Tur-Mukan, along with his sons' wives and families a few days after the battle ended.

On Coruscant, Kal started growing Clan Skirata, but at the end of the war, they had to escape the Republic army and take refuge at Kal's secluded and secret farm, Kyrimorut, on Mandalore, which is close to where Munin had reared him. Jain Skirata, a clan member, later saved Mandalore Boba Fett's life by healing Fett's failing health, which was caused by his clone nature.

10. Clan Eldar

A Mandalorian clan that operated during the Galactic Empire's rule was Clan Eldar. 11. Clan Award

Clan Awaud served as mercenaries for the Hutts and the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Nam Beroya eventually guided them to Vlemoth Port, where they formed an alliance with the Talz of the Gnaaz tribe and founded the settlement of Arumorut. At the beginning of the Galactic Civil War, there were more than 800 members of the Clan Award at Arumorut.

12. Clan Varad

The Mandalorian clan Varad was well-known for its fantastic fighting prowess and power. 13. Clan Beviin

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, a Mandalorian clan called Clan Beviin existed. Two male Mandalorians, Goran Beviin and Medrit Vasur, were married and shared a home on the Beviin-Vasur farm close to Keldabe, the capital of Mandalore. Beviin took up bounty hunting to augment their farming income, while Vasur worked as a blacksmith. Beviin fought with the Mandalorian Protectors under Mand'alor Boba Fett during the Yuuzhan Vong War. He adopted Dinua Jeban, the daughter of fellow Mandalorian Briika after she was killed in combat.

Dinua Jeban stayed on the farm with her adoptive parents after the battle was over and the Yuuzhan Vong were vanquished. She subsequently wed Jintar, a Mandalorian trooper, and the two of them had a girl named Briila and a boy named Shalk. The Beviin clan had invited Mand'alor Fett to remain at their farm by the time the Galactic Alliance and the Confederation erupted in the Second Galactic Civil War. After being cut off from Mandalorian culture and people for a large portion of his existence, Fett was able to reestablish a connection with them thanks to this arrangement.

The Beviin-Vasur farm, which combined traditional farming with the spirit of the ferocious warrior, represented the Mandalorian community and tenacity. The family's hospitality to Fett and Goran Beviin's dual responsibilities as farmers and warriors demonstrated the clan's adherence to Mandalorian principles and flexibility in both peaceful and hostile situations.

14. Clan Vevut

During the Second Galactic Civil War, the small Mandalorian clan known as Clan Vevut proved crucial. One of its prominent members, Novoc Vevut, reared Ghes Orade, the son of an orphaned neighbor, who would go on to wed Boba Fett's granddaughter, Mirta Gev.

The Mandalorian idea of adopting and caring for those in need is exemplified by Novoc Vevut's choice to raise Ghes Orade, which reflects the clan's dedication to upholding its cultural legacy and establishing strong warrior ties. 15. Clan Bralor

The Mandalorian Wars gave rise to the ancient Mandalorian clan known as Clan Bralor. On the Mandalore world's Outer Rim, they had their origins in the hill-fort settlement of Norg Bral. 18. Clan Beroya

During the Galactic War, which pitted the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire, Clan Beroya was a Mandalorian clan. During the Second Galactic Civil War, Clan Carid was a Mandalorian clan that lived on Mandalore. In 40 ABY, the clan was commanded by Baltan Carid, a Mandalorian soldier and mercenary, who also represented it in a Mandalorian clans conference with Boba Fett, the reigning Mand'alor, at Mandal Motors Hall.

The game "Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire" introduced Clan Chorn in Star Wars Legends. The clan made an appearance in Chapter XIV, Mandalore's Revenge, where players were confronted by Skytroopers and had to decide whether to sacrifice or preserve Clan Chorn.

21. Clan Farr

When the Mandalorian's invaded the Galactic Republic during the Mandalorian Wars, Clan Farr, a Mandalorian clan, battled against Jedi Knight Revan.

They lived on Dromund Kaas, the capital of the Sith Empire, during the Cold War and allied with the Order of Revan, a rebellious Sith cult that adhered to Darth Revan's doctrine and thought he had surreptitiously supplanted the Emperor. They hunted the monsters in the forest of Dromund Kaas to test their mettle in combat.

Yenko Farr and his three sisters fought with Mandalore the Avenger in the Raid on Darvannis during the fight against Zakuul, but they were killed in the attack on the Droid Factory.

22. Clan Gedyc

After the Mandalorian Excision, the peaceful New Mandalorian side emerged, causing Clan Gedyc, a Mandalorian clan, to split. Death Watch supporters eventually rose to prominence within the clan and fortified their bonds with Clan Vizsla.

Converting the former Death Watch camp into their new headquarters, which later expanded into a tiny city named Loriya after their leader, the clan returned to the moon of Zanbar around this time. Mandalorian's who felt that timidity and passivity were weakening their nation formed Clan Ha'rangir. In 3732 BBY, they began a brutal conquest known as Ha'rangir's Path. Following the Mandalorian Wars, there was a Mandalorian clan called Clan Itera. Clan Itera was one of the clans that backed Jicoln Cadera when he revolted against Mandalore, the Vindicated's Sith-friendly authority. Clan Itera was welcomed back into Mandalore and continued to be a revered aspect of Mandalorian culture even after Cadera and his supporters were defeated.

In "Star Wars: The Old Republic," created by BioWare and published on December 20, 2011, Clan Itera was first mentioned in the Star Wars canon.

25. Clan Jeban

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Mandalorian clan known as Clan Jeban was active. Clan Jeban members could be identified by their common red armor color and a black saber engraved on the chest plate, which served as the clan's emblem.

Thirteen-year-old Dinua Jeban finished her verboten, the Mandalorian customary rite of passage signifying adulthood, in 24 ABY. Dinua's mother, Briika Jeban, and she traveled together in search of mercenary labor when her father passed away. At the Bar Jaraniz on Nar Shaddaa, they met fellow Mandalorian Goran Beviin, and after working for the enigmatic Udelen—who was actually the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong agent Nom Anor—they became close friends.

A terrified Briika implored Beviin to take in Dinua in case she died when the Yuuzhan Vong fleet emerged in front of the Mandalorian's at a staging place in the Outer Rim. Beviin humbly consented to this request.

A false alliance was formed between the Mandalorian's and the Yuuzhan Vong after Anor told Mand'alor Boba Fett about the Vong's plans for the galaxy. They secretly sabotaged the invaders' campaign and collected intelligence for the New Republic while officially working with the invaders. As the Mandalorian's were relaying intelligence to Kubariet, a Jedi New Republic Intelligence agent on New Holgha, they came upon Yuuzhan Vong Subaltern Bur'lorr.

During the battle, one of the spikes on the Vong warrior's Vonduun armor fatally struck Briika in the chest. Despite every attempt to save her, Briika's blood loss caused her death. Dinua was adopted by Beviin in accordance with her wishes, joining his clan.

26. Clan Jendri

Following the Mandalorian Wars, the Mandalorian clan, known as Clan Jendri, was active. After Jedi Knight Revan defeated Mandalore the Ultimate at Malachor V and took Mandalore's Mask, numerous Mandalorian clans went out to retrieve the lost item.

In the Outer Rim Territories, Clan Jendri's search led them to the snow-covered planet Rekkiad around 3954 BBY. They used their four Basilisk battle droids to patrol the area they had constructed around the Twin Spears mountain.

Clan Ordo members ventured into Jendri's domain that same year in pursuit of Mandalore's Mask. Clan Jendri and Clan Ordo fought for dominance of the region. Even though they were over two times as many as Clan Ordo, Clan Jendri lost. After their defeat, Clan Jendri gave the land to Clan Ordo.

27. Clan Kelborn

Following the Mandalorian Wars, there was a Mandalorian clan called Clan Kelborn. Clan Kelborn was one of the clans that backed Jicoln Cadera when he revolted against Mandalore the Vindicated's Sith-aligned reign.

Clan Kelborn was welcomed back into Mandalore following the fall of Cadera and his supporters, and they remained a revered aspect of Mandalorian society.

During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Merrk Kelborn was a Rally Master who frequently visited the Mandalorian enclave on the planet Dromund Kaas.

28. Clan Keldau

During the Mandalorian Crusades, the ancient Mandalorian clan known as Clan Keldau was active. Due to the large number of combat trainers who emerged from its ranks, the clan became well-known in Mandalorian society, and its sigil was the famous image of a mythosaur skull.

Although Clan Keldau eventually went extinct, its legacy persisted. The extreme Death Watch's founder and leader, Tor Vizsla, recognized its historical significance in his manifesto, Ba'jurne Kyr'tsad Mando'ad.

29. Clan Lok

Prior to the Great Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, there was a Mandalorian clan called Clan Lok. A clan member named Artus Lok challenged and killed the previous Mand'alor in order to seize the title of Mand'alor, the customary Mandalorian clan head. The most recent Grand Champion of the Great Hunt was welcomed into Clan Lok during the Cold War by Artus, who is now known as Mandalore the Vindicated, and the Champion accepted with pleasure.

Clan Lok resisted the invaders during the Eternal Empire's invasion of the cosmos, although they were severely outnumbered. Swarms of sky troopers killed Mandalore the Vindicated in combat, which caused the clan to disperse and created a stigma against droids.

In order to re-arm the Mandalorian's, Mandalore the Avenger, the new Mandalore, eventually organized an attack against the Eternal Empire's factory on Darvannis. Mirli Lok, on the other hand, disapproved of this strategy, believing that fighting droids was dishonorable and that Zakuul should be faced head-on instead.

Mirli persuaded others to secede from Vizla's authority and form the Ash'ad. For honor and glory, they journeyed to Onderon to hunt hazardous monsters, but on Mandalore's orders, the Alliance Commander killed them. Under Durn Wynnward's leadership, the remaining Ash'ad members joined the Hidden Chain, a splinter group.

30. Clan Lone

A Mandalorian clan, Clan Lone was active during both the Great Galactic War and the Cold War that followed between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Clan Lone member Zadik Lone fell in love with fellow Mandalorian Akaavi Spar close to the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant.

In order to join Lone's family, Spar left her clan. But when Spar's clan was betrayed and put to death by the Sith Empire, tragedy struck. Spar implored Clan Lone to follow Mandalorian custom and unite to her clan's defense, but the clan members refused to oppose the Empire.

Spar thus broke off her connection with Zadik and cut off all contact with Clan Lone in order to find the people who killed her family. Due to their failure to assist Spar, Clan Lone was disgraced, and many of its members allied with Tayari Rook, the man who planned Clan Spar's demise. Rook and his companions were found at an encampment on the planet Nal Hutta by Akaavi Spar, who assaulted and slaughtered any who fought rather than ran.

31. Clan Priest

Clan Priest was a Mandalorian clan that had internal strife after the Mandalorian Excision when the peaceful New Mandalorian side emerged. Some members stuck with the traditional warrior clans, while others backed the pacifist group.

In the process of choosing training sergeants for the Grand Army of the Republic's clone commandos, Mand'alor Jango Fett selected 75 Mandalorians, including Dred Priest. Priest, a harsh and cruel man, thought that mistreating the clone warriors would make them more resilient.

Dred Priest and his sweetheart, Isabet Reau, had joined the extremist Death Watch gang by 19 BBY. Because Priest was affiliated with the Death Watch, Mij Gilamar, a fellow Mandalorian soldier, assassinated him during an unplanned encounter in Keldabe, Mandalore's capital. After that, the body of the Priest was thrown into the Kelita River.

32. Clan Shale

Clan Shale was an old Mandalorian clan within the Mandalorian community. Clan Nerak brutally killed Clan Shale members in an attempt to overthrow the revered clan, sparking a quarrel with the new, irascible leader Ballag of Clan Nerak that turned into an open conflict. Particularly during Mandalore the Avenger's pursuit of Field Marshal Heta Kol, this brutality compelled Arbiter Jekiah Ordo to step in before things could get worse.

To settle the conflict, Jekiah Ordo set up a combat between Ballag and Arla Shale inside one of the Mandalorian strongholds on the planet Geonosis. "The losing clan will be destroyed," he said. Both parties agreed to the startling conditions, which gave the scenario a serious tone reminiscent of Clan Cadera's uprising when Mandalorian forces last destroyed a clan.

Ballag first took advantage of the duel by hurting Arla. But Arla adjusted and reversed the situation, ultimately gaining control of Ballag. Jekiah and Arla decided on a new plan to make up for the attacks on Clan Shale rather than choosing to destroy Clan Nerak or kill Ballag. Clan Shale continued to support Mand'alor's rule, but Clan Nerak ultimately disintegrated.

33. Clan Sornell

During the Mandalorian Wars, Clan Sornell was a Mandalorian clan that was primarily Devaronian. It included Koblus "Ko" Sornell and her spouse Haarm, a Mandalorian couple, their son Gheedor, a younger daughter, and a baby.

Clan Sornell joined the Neo-Crusader organization in response to Mandalore the Ultimate's call to overthrow the Galactic Republic. Ko Sornell had started teaching her son Gheedor the Mandalorian ways during the height of the Mandalorian Wars, and during the Battle of Essien, she accompanied him into battle on a Basilisk war droid.

The clan took part in the victory of the Mandalorians at Hathor. After it was over, Haarm Sornell and his daughter set up their family's makeshift home and had dinner with Republic naval captain Dallan Morvis and the captive Jedi-turned-Mandalorian conscript Zayne Carrick. In order to seize the Jedi Enclave and the many Jedi younglings there, they then set sail for Dantooine. Ko Sornell announced she was expecting a second child during the Dantooine attack.

34. Clan Spar

During the Great Galactic War, Clan Spar was a Mandalorian clan that supported the Sith Empire. They participated in the Sacking of Coruscant, which took place in Galactic City and involved more than a hundred battle-hardened commandos, including Clan Spar members.

Jedi Master Kellian Jarro inflicted severe losses on the TribeTribeTribeTribeTribeTribeTribeTribeTribeTribe during the conflict. The clan responded by vowing to exact revenge on their deceased comrades. However, the counterfeit Mandalorian Tayari Rook framed them for crimes against the Sith Empire before they could carry out their promise. Rook unjustly claimed that Clan Spar had broken a nonexistent agreement to kill Jedi shuttles. Consequently, the clan was poisoned, taken prisoner, and put to death by the Empire.

Akaavi Spar, a female Zabrak Mandalorian who was away with a boyfriend at the time of the attack, was the only survivor. Akaavi turned to her lover's clan, Clan Lone, for assistance after discovering the Empire's treachery, but they turned her down. Akaavi joined forces with a budding smuggler, determined to get revenge on her clan. They discovered Tayari Rook's activities together and followed him to Nal Hutta. When Rook and his criminal followers failed to escape, Akaavi slaughtered them in retaliation for Clan Spar's defeat.

35. Clan Tal

The Mandalorian clan was called The final surviving member of Clan Tal, a human named Aran Tal, who participated in the Hunters of the Outer Rim athletic tournament. During the Night of a Thousand Tears, the Galactic Empire slaughtered, and Aran Tal wore the Tribe's ancient armorAran Tal wore the ancient armor of the Tribe of the Tribe was worn by Aran Tal.

36. Clan Tenau

Clan Tenau was a Mandalorian clan active during the Mandalorian Civil War. This war pitted the noble True Mandalorians under Jaster Mereel against the violent and radical Death Watch, while the New Mandalorians, who preferred peace, stayed neutral. Clan Tenau members were split during this social split, with each of the three groups supported by a different clan member.

37. The Tribe

The Mandalorian clan, known as the ribeTribe, Tribe was active in the years after the Galactic Empire collapsed. Paz Vizsla and Din Djarin, a female Mandalorian ArmoreThe remainder of the Tribe consistednotable members. A number remainder of the Tribe.

Only one member was permitted to leave the covert at a time in order to reduce the possibility of being caught. The Tribe was a member of the Children of the Watch, a cult that practiced the antiquated Way of the Mandalore, according to Bo-Katan Kryze. Among other rules, this custom, which had become unpopular among Mandalorian society at large, prohibited members from taking off their helmets in public.

38. Clan Werda

Founded during the initial waves of Mandalorian crusaders, Clan Werda was an ancient Mandalorian clan. In the Mandalore system, they first made their home on the snow-covered planet Werda. However, the clan was forced to leave their frigid home due to a great civil war on Werda and relocate to Kalevala as part of House Kryze.

Clan Werda was split between fighters who backed the New Mandalorians and traditionalists who wanted to maintain Mandalore's fighting customs during the Great Clan Wars. Only a small number of New Mandalorians survived the conflict and settled in Sundari, making the clan all but extinct by the end. As the final pro-war member of Clan Werda and a child soldier, Naast Werda became an Old Mandalorian, joining thousands of other traditionalists who had been banished from the Mandalore system.

39. Esok's clan

Esok's clan was a group of Mandalorian mercenaries who were looking for labor on Dantooine during the Dark Wars. Mandalore the Preserver tried to enlist the clan in his mission to bring the Mandalorian clans back together when he accompanied the Jedi Exile. The clan's chief, Esok, attempted to usurp Mandalore's Mask in order to become the new Mand'alor, but he refused to join him. After Esok's death, the clan's surviving members joined Mandalore, the Preserver on Dxun.

40. Clan Rodarch

During the Cold War between the reconstructed Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, the Mandalorian clan known as Clan Rodarch was active. It was common for clan members to have ashlar panthers and train them to fight with them.

Clan Rodarch's warriors were proud of the share panthers' bravery and alertness. The share panther became the clan's mascot over time, and their armor was painted to mimic the animal's pelts.

41. Clan Sharratt

Under the leadership of Kaleesh warlords, Clan Sharratt was a Mandalorian clan made up of Zabrak and humans. They operated during the Cold War when the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic were at odds.

During this period, Clan Sharratt challenged the Republic defenders to engage in combat with a new Imperial combat adrenal and threatened to destroy any Republic property on Nar Shaddaa if their challenge was not accepted. But they lost their leader, Kassor Quade, who was slain, and their enclave was destroyed. Years later, the clan started to assist the Hidden Chain.

42. Clan Jennis

During the Cold War, the Mandalorian clan known as Clan Jennis was active. A number of Clan Jennis Mandalorian fighters pursued a shipment of stolen goods.
